Local Attorney Scott Collins Selected To 2022 Kentucky Super Lawyers List

January 4, 2022, Richmond – Scott E. Collins, founder, and owner of Elder Law Guidance in Richmond, has been selected to the 2022 Kentucky Super Lawyers list, among just five percent of the Kentucky lawyers selected by Super Lawyers annually to receive this honor. Last year, Collins was selected to their Rising Stars list, limited to just 2.5 percent of lawyers statewide.

“I am honored to be on the Super Lawyers list again this year,” said Collins. “Our team works hard to help our clients protect what they’ve worked so hard to earn, and this work is very fulfilling to us.”

The list rates lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.

Collins is a VA-accredited attorney who provides guidance and support to clients throughout Madison County and across South Central and Eastern Kentucky with legal needs involving elder law, estate planning, wills and trusts, Medicaid planning and Veterans’ benefits. He is admitted to practice before all Kentucky state courts as well as before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He also serves as an attorney with Vets Serving Vets.

A native of Middlesboro, Kentucky, he is a former air traffic controller with the U.S. Army. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Abilene Christian University, including his Master of Divinity. He served as a minister at churches nationwide, including Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, Michigan, and New Hampshire. During this time, he discovered the pressing needs of his parishioners regarding end-of-life care wishes and estate planning issues, which spurred his interest in pursuing his legal career to help those in need.

Collins obtained his Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2014. He opened Elder Law Guidance the following year in Richmond, Kentucky. In 2021 it was named a Law Firm 500 Honoree in the Fastest Growing Law Firms list nationwide.

“Exceptionally pleased with Scott and his team! They are very patient to explain complex ins and outs of elder law, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Wills, risk assessments, etc. They patiently and carefully guide you through the Trust process, especially those of us unfamiliar with estate planning to achieve what YOU want. They are also willing to work with other estate partners like financial advisors, financial institutions, CPAs and family members in these efforts.
