Keaton Scott Smith
Keaton Smith is a Legal Assistant at Elder Law Guidance. A lifelong resident of Richmond, Kentucky, Keaton is proud to serve families in the community where he was raised and where he and his wife, Gracie Smith, continue to live. Gracie is a kindergarten teacher at Lancaster Elementary.
Keaton graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Moral Philosophy and Religious Studies from Eastern Kentucky University. He joined Elder Law Guidance in December 2021 and has experience assisting clients with Medicaid long-term care planning and pursuing benefits for disabled wartime Veterans. His work often involves guiding clients through complex documentation, strict eligibility rules, and time-sensitive deadlines when families are facing major life changes and need a steady, practical plan.
Since joining the firm, he has developed extensive experience navigating the VA’s complicated appeals landscape and helping Veterans work through a system that can be difficult to understand and even harder to win without the right strategy and supporting evidence. He takes pride in helping Veterans pursue the benefits they earned, while also setting families up for long-term stability and peace of mind.
Keaton is drawn to elder law because it serves a population that is too often overlooked, even though these are challenges nearly every family will face at some point. He values being part of a team that pushes the system toward better outcomes for vulnerable individuals and helps clients feel informed, supported, and respected throughout the process.
Outside of work, Keaton enjoys keeping up with the DCI and WGI professional marching band circuits, playing instruments in his garage with friends, and spending time traveling with his wife.
