Vanessa joined Elder Law Guidance as an Associate Attorney in the spring of 2024.
“I am honored to be a part of the team at Elder Law Guidance because the work we do here drastically changes the future, not only for our clients, but potentially their family for generations to come. Assisting individuals in current crisis while also benefiting generations that we will never meet is something that happens at Elder Law Guidance. We solve current problems, but we also help to protect or create legacies for families.”
Vanessa has lived in various areas of Kentucky throughout her lifetime, including Prestonsburg, Whitley City, London, Somerset, Crestview Hills, Louisville, Richmond, and Berea.
She is an alumna of McCreary Central High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Eastern Kentucky University. Vanessa earned her Juris Doctor from Salmon P. Chase School of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
“After graduation from law school, I was a law clerk for Laurel Circuit Court Judge, Roderick Messer, before opening my own legal practice. I practiced in various areas of law before joining Elder Law Guidance and am proud to have been the first female Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for Laurel and Knox counties.”
Vanessa enjoys spending time with friends and family and traveling. She also enjoys photography and serves on the photography team at her church. She lives with her husband Tony in Berea, Kentucky. They have three children and two puppies, Sophie and Maggie.
“Both sets of my grandparents were small business owners. My Grandma and Grandpa Troxell ran a small grocery store and then a furniture store in McCreary County, Kentucky. My Grandma and Grandpa Lominac ran a restaurant located on Highway 27 in McCreary County called “The Spot.” Small business is the backbone of small communities and is vital for continued growth and development.”
“My husband and I love to support small business whenever possible. Two of our favorite places to frequent are Purdy’s coffee shop in Richmond and Just Love Coffee in Berea, Kentucky. If I am ever in Somerset, I try to stop in at Baxter’s for some tasty treats!”
